What happens after getting a positive result?

When a person is diagnosed with HIV, they will require getting medical care from an infectious diseases doctor who will request some blood tests to see what is the viral load of the virus and the level of immunity. Global recommendations require individuals start treatment immediately upon diagnosis.

Individuals can also benefit from psychological and nutritional counseling at Marsa’s center.

Medication can be provided for free through the National AIDS Control Program/Ministry of Public Health.

People living with HIV can live long and healthy lives if they are following their treatment and recommendations from their physician. They can have a family, a booming social life, successful career… they can lead healthy sexual lives with condom use to prevent transmission of HIV or contraction of other sexually transmitted infections.
